If you want to learn about what’s at the core of life, the essential and ultimate universal values beneath all the distractions, deceptions and delusions, then ask the living dead. No, I don’t mean zombies. From my experience zombies have little to offer when it comes to finding the deeper meaning of life. I am referring instead to the testimony of near-death experiencers, people who have been physically dead for short periods of time, glimpsed human incarnation from the outside, and come back to their bodies. Extensive research has shown that near-death experiences have classic, universal elements and that near-death experiencers are usually profoundly and positively transformed as a result. Research also shows that parallel positive effects can occur in people just by reading about NDEs.Read More »
Carnival 2012—A Psychological Study of the 2012 Phenomenon and the 22 Classic Pitfalls and Blind Spots of Esoteric Research
The cycle end-date of the Mayan Long Count calendar, an authentic artifact of an ancient Mesoamerican culture worthy of serious investigation, became the focus of contemporary psychopathology and cultural projection in a way that is fascinating as its own artifact worthy of serious investigation.Read More »
Western romance mythology centers around being in love as an ecstatic state in which we feel we have been completed, found the ultimate meaning in life, and have larger than life feelings of intensity. Unconsciously we have the expectation that our lover provide us with these feelings continuously. We also assume that our model of romance is the best and that love relationships not based on “being in love” must be pale, insignificant shadows by comparison. We are convinced of this despite all the evidence that tells us that few enterprises, besides diets, begin with such high hopes and typically such dismal results as the falling in love sort of romances.Read More »

This article derives from a discussion I had with Alex in 2005 and an interview I did with George Noory and Alex in 2006.. Alex narrates an out of body vision which lead to his painting "Demons and Dieties Drinking from the Milky Pool." I provide some analysis of his experience and comments on two other paintings of his which have mind parasite imagery.Read More »
A young woman I know sent me a dream this morning with themes that resonate with dreams of other young women I have interpreted, and now I wish I had written down more of them because so many of them have been so powerful and illuminating of the state of the feminine after six thousand years of patriarchal history. In this essay I will discuss what I have learned from these dreams and from other cultural observations. I will conclude with analysis of two of dreams, including the one from this morning. Like most of my web-posted documents, this is a work in progress, and I expect to add to and revise this document as more dreams and observations come up.Read More »
The metabolism of our species is reaching a feverish intensity as we approach an evolutionary event horizon. One symptom of this feverish metamorphosis is our mutating relationship to body. Suffering associated with body image has reached such epidemic proportions in our culture that it must be counted as one of the greatest spiritual plagues ever to be visited upon mankind. Note: this is the article form of what was originally a book proposoal. The Glorified Body book proposal contains some important information that is not presented here. You could read this as an introduction and then skip the similar overview in the book proposal and read the remaining sections. To find out what inspired this writing, and why it remained a book proposal read The Path of the NuminousRead More »

Begins with a synchronicity this is a brief, conversational treatment of infatuation, romantic relationships, the Tolkien mythos and what binds us to the matrix. This essay will explore androgyny at the core of many of the mysteries of: the 6,000 years of Feminine-hating dominator societies that continue to rule our world, key forms of religious extremism, the torturous enchantments of romantic relations, gender identity, and the core meaning of the ring symbolism and other aspects of the Tolkien mythology. Androgyny is the key that unlocks many of the most difficult paradoxes and delusions of the interlocking realms of eros, religion, psychology, gender relations, spirituality and sexuality. We will begin with a discourse on what androgyny is and isn’t, its history and role in human development individually and historically. The second part will employ androgyny as a key to unlock the ring symbolism of the Tolkien mythology which will expand the meaning of androgyny and illustrate its extreme relevance to the present human predicament individually and collectively.Read More »
Rob Brezsny , author, visionary, and musician whose syndicated column appears in more than 200 newspapers says “One of my favorite thinkers and writers is my friend Jonathan Zap. His vision is simultaneously cosmic and intimate, shocking and healing. Jonathan has created the Zap Oracle, a source you can use to do divinations for yourself. Because he has such a cagey, interesting, and holy mind, I trust the spirit behind his oracles."
Rob also endorses Jonathan's dream interpretation service. In his weekly newsletter he wrote:
"Jonathan Zap, Visionary Philosopher and Dream Worker Extraordinaire. The best dream worker I've ever known. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of working on my dreams with some fine dream workers, but recently I discovered the best ever. His name is Jonathan Zap.
Highly intuitive, schooled in the wisdom of archetypes, and really smart, Jonathan has helped me crack the codes of some of my major dreams. His cost is quite reasonable, too. I exuberantly recommend his services. (He's not even paying me to say this. I'm simply motivated by the desire to share his treasure with my readers.) "
Tima Vlasto, a free lance writer and translator from Athens, Greece who writes a column for the Examiner says of the Zap Oracle:
"... it has been a more positively transformative experience for me than any other form of inner searching I have done…and I have done a lot! It unabashedly touches and presses on every wound, every bright light, every hidden corner, and in such blunt honesty, that at the moment it “speaks," there is no way to not face, absorb, realize and embrace those shadows that block the “connection”…and confirms, so readily like a snapshot of the “matrix dynamics” at that moment, one’s intuition. It is a great oracle."
