One of the greatest gifts you can give the world is mindful attention. A central witness personality within yourself lessens the possibility of acting out your destructive unconscious aspects in the outer world. It can also mitigate the power of destructive inner voices and subpersonalities that might otherwise seize power unnoticed. Mindful witnessing of what’s going on in other people and in the world around you can be a potent healing force. Of course, direct engagement is often what’s called for, but recognition of an appropriate call to action usually derives from conscious witnessing. In many cases, you can maintain your conscious witness while directly engaged and bring a quality of mindfulness to your present actions.
